Established in 1998, Café Lalibela is one of the oldest Ethiopian restaurants in Melbourne. It is not just a restaurant, café and bar, it is an institution that represents the best of Ethiopian cuisine and exudes the culture of the East African nation.
In 2003, we took the initiative to import 3 brands of Ethiopian beer to Australia for the first time; these beers have become very popular since. We pride ourselves on being among the best African restaurants not only in Melbourne but also in the whole of Australia.
Ethiopia has a diverse culture and unique traditions which are practiced in the country on a daily basis. Café Lalibela is designed to be a home away from home for Africans and an exotic place for the wider community without them having to fly out of the country.
Vegetarian, vegan (also called 'fasting food') and gluten-free/wheat-free dishes are all available.
